LOVE, LOSS AND BETRAYAL: AN INSIGHT INTO GACHIAKUTA.

By Marka Gbane 11/14/2025

LOVE, LOSS AND BETRAYAL: AN INSIGHT INTO GACHIAKUTA.

A father dead. Love lost. Destiny recalibrated.

Rudo was banished to the life of a trash scavenger amongst tribesfolk, until fate struck with a fatal blow.

The series highlights classism; the very obvious but seemingly unspoken dichotomy between the elites and the impoverished, the brazenness of Rudo— the boy —in his daily sojourns, his relationship with his foster father, and his feelings for a girl he admires, Chiwa.

Just as Rudo clinches his dream life of love with Chiwa, his father, Regto is kîlled.

Rudo’s world crashes after he’s framed for it, and only one act drives him from that point on— retribution.

The hardship doubles down on him, after the sphereites banish him to the pit— a dungeon of dangerous creatures —to die. To make things even worse, his love interest has turned her back on him, disappointed and betrayed by his alleged actions.

Crestfallen, in the pit, he spends every single day fighting for survival from the devices of the monsters in the pit until he's rescued by a man who invites him to join a group.

Every little battle win and skill Rudo acquired from this juncture is focused towards one goal. He just wants to avenge the death of his father, and clean his name in the process and so, he treads the path of self discovery.

In his sojourn, he unravels a lot of things; the identity of someone he didn't think he'd ever meet in his life, and the connection of this person to the men that rule the floating city, and so, it transcends just redemption and vindication for his name, and Rudo, now shouldered with the responsibility of an underdog, has to make the most pivotal decision of his life.

This series is a showpiece. A masterclass on how anime ought to be written, with a storyline built to keep you invested from start to finish, riveting character development, and many spine tingling sequences.

Without a shadow of doubt, this is a must watch.
