CLASSIC FIVE— LEGENDARY ANIME FITS.

There are costumes in anime that have garnered so much aura due to the exploits of the people that wear them. Attires that have been elevated to the point where even non anime fans can recognize. Iconic fits. It's just like pro wrestling where you have the shiny robes that immediately signify the presence of Ric Flair, or The Rock’s vintage shirts, or John Cena’s jean shorts. Certain wears in anime have built a connection with the fans, like an extra reason to love the characters that don them.

In light of that, these are five of the biggest anime attires in history;

GOKU’S GI (DRAGON BALL.)

The moment you sight that blue shirt under the orange martial arts uniform, a cloak of nostalgia engulfs you. You know it's the greatest of all SuperSaiyan warriors. This attire isn't just a piece of clothing. It's a big part of Goku’s legacy, carrying crests that symbolize the growth of his power and ability across the series. Deep down, growing up, we all had some love for Goku's costume. We still do, and that's why it's on this list.

NARUTO'S ORANGE JUMPSUIT. (NARUTO.)

The shift that Naruto has given to the anime culture is the major reason for the appearance of this attire on this list. That orange doesn't just rest on his back nicely. It sends a bold message of energy and resolve, and Naruto, being the cheerful, determined character that he is, perfectly suits this costume.

LUFFY'S STRAW HAT. (ONE PIECE.)

Nothing outlandish. Nothing ostentatious, even. Luffy's hat might not be magnificent to the eye, but its backstory is enough to propel it into icon status. This hat is not just an accessory. It's a relic passed down from men of high repute, from the pirate king, to Shanks to Luffy. As it sits on Luffy's head in every wake, it reminds him of his dreams and aspirations. The hat is also a symbol of hope, and a priceless possession. Fascinating, what a simple weaved hat with a red ribbon could represent.

NANA OSAKI’S PUNK AESTHETIC (TALENTLESS NANA.)

Nana’s mix of ripped jeans/mini skirts, leather jackets and a generally carefree look gives her the air she needs to fit in with a bunch of teenagers as a government hired serial assassin. It also says everything about her persona— bubbly, but in a dangerous way. By all means, a top costume.

MIKASA ACKERMAN (ATTACK ON TITAN.)

In its own subtle way, Ackerman's outfit tells the story of her life’s growth and what had happened to her over the course of the series. A dull colored army wear doesn't really sound iconic until you hear the story of the person that donned it.

Many more fits exist that have stayed on our screens so long that they impact the culture and even extend the effects of anime into fashion. These five, in my opinion, are some of the most legendary of them all.
