"NOTHING HAPPENED": ONE PIECE'S COLDEST MOMENT?

When the straw hat pirates, led by Monkey D. Luffy defeated Oars and Gecko Moriah after an intense battle, Bartholomew Kuma was sent by the world government to put an end to them once and for all.

Whilst Luffy himself was unconscious from the battle, Kuma arrived at the scene and demanded Luffy's life in exchange for everyone else's safety. When Luffy's associates tried to fight him, he knocked them down and moved to take the unconscious Luffy away.

Zoro refused to let him take Luffy and offered his life instead. Even with Sanji, another associate, volunteering to do it, he insisted on carrying the burden alone. Kuma transferred all the pain and injuries from Luffy's body to Zoro, and he shouldered it all without complaint.

A sacrifice unrivalled by any other— giving your life in return for your captain's. Zoro didn't just make one of the most iconic moves in anime. He made one worthy of the emulation and respect of viewers worldwide. Sharing in the pain of his boss, redefining what passion and loyalty means.

When Sanji found him later, standing in the midst of the ruins, covered in blood, he asked what was going on, and Zoro’s nonchalant reply is the coldest thing you'll have heard all day.

“Nothing happened.”
