THIS OR THAT— NARUTO OR LUFFY'S JOURNEY?
By Marka Gbane • 12/5/2025

Naruto Uzumaki and Monkey D. Luffy share a lot of similarities.
While Luffy didn't exactly go through stigmatization like Naruto did for his differences, there are a lot of other things that tally on their journey.
For starters, both of them wanted the top spot or nothing. Naruto wanted to rule his village. Luffy wanted to be the pirate king, and both of them would never have accepted anything less.
Both of them also have similar personalities. Cheerful, light and optimistic. This is one of the major reasons they never give up in their chase for greatness.
In the midst of all this cheerfulness, there's always someone— an associate or a friend —with a contrasting personality that keeps them in check and stops them from making impulsive or immature decisions that could jeopardize their dreams. For Naruto, it was Sasuke Uchiha. For Luffy, it was Roronoa Zoro.
Despite their cheerful characters, they both grow to become seasoned leaders as the series wear on. Their resolve and increasing want to become better skilled is the main reason for this.
Their journeys might be completely different, but both approached it in a much more comparable manner.
So, I ask you— Naruto's journey or Luffy's journey?
