UNDERRATED: FIVE FEMALE CHARACTERS THAT DESERVE MORE PROPS.

Among the large selection of trail blazing female anime characters, there are a few that haven't been given due props. These characters made immense contribution to the redefinition of female roles in the world of anime.
Here are five underrated female anime characters;
RIZA HAWKEYE (FULL METAL ALCHEMIST: BROTHERHOOD)
It's pretty easy for her to be thought of as a lackey, due to the density of top characters in the show, but Riza was much more than that.
She wasn't just an accurate sniper. She was Mustang's checker. A moral compass, if you will. She was the iron hand he needed to stay on the right side every time, ready to do whatever it took— taking drastic measures, even —to make sure Mustang stayed true. It takes someone with a strong grip on their emotions to do that.

SATSUKI KIRYUIN. (KILL LA KILL)
A master at the art of belligerence and rebellion, Satsuki is not just underrated. She's misunderstood.
Satsuki is one of those cold, ruthless characters that refuse to conform and pander to the hearts of the people around them and as such, they are thought of as villains. Behind the tyrannic, calculative personality, she's just someone that understands the dynamics of humanity, and realized long ago that she may be hated for it, but she wanted to do good in her own unique way.

YONA (YONA OF THE DAWN)
From a frail, heartbroken princess, to a skilled archer and political genius. Quite the story, right?
Yona had to live through the pain of her father's death at the hands of a cousin, a narrow escape from the castle she grew in, and the rocky road to redemption. She eventually earned more than she could ever have achieved as a princess— the respect, allegiance and admiration of the finest warriors in the land.

MAKI ZENIN (JUJUTSU KAISEN)
This character is truly inspiring. Marginalized from a young age due to her lack of abilities, it all looked like she was banished to the life of a simpleton, but her determination would put her in the thick of situations she was deemed not fit to be. She earned it all, using her pain as fuel to push her to greater heights.

YMIR (ATTACK ON TITAN)
Her story is a 180° turn. With decades of experience as an inane titan under her belt, it's no wonder she had a blunt persona, a front for all the pain she's faced in her life, from being scapegoated brutally by the people she trusted with her life, to having her tongue cut off and becoming a mindless beast. Everything changed when she made the decision to right her wrongs by dedicating her life to protect Historia, one of the show's central characters.
Ymir's life mirrors the cruelty of the world we live in, and the ability of anyone, no matter what they've gone through, to decide how they write their story— good or bad.

These five female characters should be appreciated more, definitely.
